Bass Fishing with Angler’s Edge

The Atlantic Bass, or European Bass, a prehistoric looking beast. The Atlantic Bass is a total predator, armour plated with a lethal dose of spines along its dorsal fin. Atlantic Bass have predominantly silver camouflage and sleek streamline body. Anglers should use the instincts of this highly predatory fish to their advantage.

Your Bass Fishing Trip

Your day starts early. We leave the pontoon between six and seven am depending on the tide. Our destination, the French Banks, about 20 miles off shore.

Adam, (Angler’s Edge Skipper) will put you on several drifts over the French Banks. You will be assisted by the crew with the net and measuring bass for legal size. 

You or the crew can repair any terminal tackle loses between drifts. The crew’s priority is to keep you fishing each drift.

If you are a complete novice, the crew will do their absolute best to get you hooked into some bass.

Drifting for Bass

Drifting for bass is an intense fishing experience. You might also be surprised with an unexpected turbot or brill while on the drift. 

The early start gives you the opportunity to fish both the rising and ebbing tides. Best of all, during the slack water between tides we anchor over the banks. At this time you can expect some of incredible fishing including.

Large Bass. Record size Tope. Large Blonde Rays. Hard fighting Bull Huss.

Bass Fishing Tackle

Angler’s Edge will supply you with all the equipment you need. We use quality rods and reels tried and tested for performance and feel. 

Terminal Tackle, keep it simple. A standard running ledger is perfect. A light trace of 8 to 12 foot 20 to 30 lbs mono. A lure or bait and a weight just heavy enough to feel the sea bed.

This set up will maximize your fishing time. When you loose a lure, or get tangled, this set up is easy to re-rig.  

Bass Fishing Tips

Is it your first time bass fishing? Do you want some pointers? 

We all have to learn somewhere, we only learnt our skills through the generosity of previous anglers, so why not pass that knowledge on.

It is a good idea to watch the more experienced anglers, there’s a reason why they are catching.

That said it’s not easy to spot the fine details, the finishing touches that separate the top anglers from the rest of us.
